The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has introduced special support measures for tourists and migrant workers currently staying in Sri Lanka.
These steps were taken due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has led to airspace closures and multiple flight cancellations. As a result, many tourists — especially from Iran, Iraq, and other Middle Eastern countries — are experiencing travel delays and disruptions.
To assist them, the Sri Lankan Government has approved a free 14-day visa extension for stranded tourists.
SLTDA has instructed all registered tourism service providers to:
🔹 Give priority support to affected tourists
🔹 Monitor flight changes closely
🔹 Offer flexible accommodation options
🔹 Adjust travel plans according to revised flight schedules
☎️ 24-Hour Emergency Hotlines:
📍 1912 – Tourism emergency hotline (Tourist Information Centre at Bandaranaike International Airport)
✈️ 1994 – Flight updates and airport services
🔁 1979 – Domestic flight rebooking assistance
🌍 +94 11 777 1979 – International flight rebooking assistance
SLTDA is also identifying tourists scheduled to depart in the coming days to ensure they receive the necessary support.
👮♂️ Additionally, the Authority is working closely with the Tourism Police in major tourism zones to ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors.
