Sri Lanka recorded 113,307 tourist arrivals during the first 16 days of August 2026, taking the country's cumulative tourist arrivals for the year to more than 1.45 million, according to the latest figures reported by The Morning.

The latest figures indicate continued international demand for Sri Lanka as a travel destination. The country has already passed the 1.4 million visitor mark earlier in August, highlighting the importance of the current tourism season for hotels, tour operators, transport providers and other tourism businesses.
