Sri Lanka has welcomed 1,468,980 international tourists between January 1 and August 18, 2026, according to the latest figures from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

The country recorded 125,562 tourist arrivals during the first 18 days of August alone, showing continued demand for Sri Lanka as a travel destination.

India remained the leading source market in August with 27,884 arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom with 13,980 and France with 8,776.

Looking at the year so far, India continues to lead with 366,114 visitors, while the UK contributed 144,381 and China recorded 97,073 arrivals.

February recorded the highest monthly arrivals so far in 2026, welcoming 279,328 tourists.
