Sri Lanka has announced an ambitious vision for the future of its tourism industry, setting a target of 5 million international tourist arrivals and USD 10 billion in tourism revenue by 2030. The strategy also aims to expand the tourism workforce to 800,000 professionals, reinforcing tourism as one of the country's key economic sectors.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya during the 45th Graduation Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM). The vision highlights the importance of developing skilled professionals while creating sustainable growth across the tourism industry.

Achieving these targets will require continued investment in hospitality, digital transformation, infrastructure, destination marketing, and workforce development. Hotels, tour operators, transport providers, restaurants, and tourism entrepreneurs are expected to play an important role in supporting this long-term vision.

As global interest in Sri Lanka continues to grow, the Tourism Vision 2030 provides a clear roadmap for positioning the island as one of Asia's leading travel destinations while creating new opportunities for businesses and professionals across the tourism sector.
